Nicola Sharp-Jeffs' passion and purpose for working on ‘all things economic abuse’ came from conversations with victim-survivors. She heard how economic control took away their freedom and stopped them from achieving their full potential. Nicola undertook the first piece of research on economic abuse in the UK in 2008 and has been instrumental in transforming the response to victim-survivors. As well as working in academia, Nicola is the founder and former CEO of the UK charity Surviving Economic Abuse and in 2025, co-founded the International Coalition Against Economic Abuse.
